1. What was your favorite vacation location and how did you heard about it?
I think that my favorite vacation location is Helsinki, the capital city of Finland, a city which earned in the 20th century the place among the most important metropolis in the world. I went to Helsinki this year when I participate with an essay about Vikings and their culture. All the professors who teach Nordic languages had to do an essay about Vikings and my essay was one of ones who won the competition from Romania so I had to go with another 4 university professors to Helsinki. And I must say with my hand on my heart that I felt great there between very intelligent persons. In my opinion after I was there , Helsinki has to be seen and experienced to be fully appreciated because there are many ways to discover this cosmopolitan city. I think that Helsinki is small and intimate , lively but not bustling. Its size makes it easy to walk around cafes , markets and the nearby islands are its summer delights. All these in an indescribable sightseeing.
2. Did you travel alone or with your family/friends (how many) ?
Like I said I traveled with 4 teachers , one from the University were I teach and 3 from the University from Bucharest. And it was great because we started to get to know each other during the whole vacation.
3. How much time did you spend finding out information about this location and what resources did you use to do it (online sites/traveling agencies/friends).
I did not spend so much time searching for the informations because I received from the embassy a file with all I needed to know even some online sites for me to be sure that the informations that they gave me are correct.
4. Can you tell us the thing you like most in this place?
I think that the think that I liked most was that Helsinki has a lot to offer, to see, to do , to experience for all visitors of all ages, and I think that this great. It was also great that interesting attractions can be found to suit to all tastes and season.
5. What were the bad/ugly sides of your vacation?
I think that the bad side of this vacation was definitely the bad weather , it was so cold in some days that I thought the blood friezed in my body, even if there was summer.
6. How was your room (did you had everything you need).
We stayed at a 2 stars hotel and I must say that we had very good conditions, it was like we were in Romania at 4 stars hotel. I have nothing to complain because the accommodation was very good and I had everything I wanted, and if I didn’t had one thing in my room the room-service brought it to me without any problem.
7. Did you take a digital camera (what model), a laptop or any other gadgets with you? (name of the gadget).
I took with me my digital camera, a Konica-Minol Z and of course my laptop a Sony Vaio PC9F.
8. How were the people there (the reception and people you meet)
Unlike the weather the people whom I met here were very warm and friendly, one of the friendliest I ever met in my life.
9. Did you make any new friends (are you still keeping in touch).
Yes I did made a lot friends, especially those with whom I traveled to Helsinki and with whom I bound a very strong friendship, but not only with these ones I bound friendships but also with some of university teachers who came at this meeting-competition. And I am glad that I am still keeping in touch with them by emails and that’s great in my opinion.
10. How did you spend your time? Did you participate in any recreational activities?
Most of my time is spent it in the meeting-competition where every professor read and explain his essay and when we had time free we went in town and visit because he had a lot of places to visit, and we visited only the most important ones.
11. What places did you visited? (Museums, resorts, sport facilities)
When we were not at the meeting we visited a lot of places like the Cathedral, the Ateneum Art Museum, the Esplanade Park, the Finlandia Hall, the Finnish National Opera, the Gardenia-Helsinki, the Helsinki winter Garden, and a lot more important historic monuments.
12. What other vacation location would you recommend to the public?
My recommendation to the public is probably a place where is not so cold like Spain or Italy.
