1. What was your favorite vacation location and how did you heard about it?
I think that my favorite vacation location is Pisa, Italy, the city of the only leaning tower in the world. Since high school I was very passionate with the literature , especially the old literature and during my life as a teacher and as a literary critique I have read a lot of books, and the ones which made the old literature to last until nowadays wrote in their poems and books about a lot of important cities overloaded with history, and I must say that my biggest dream was to visit each one of them. And Pisa was one of them, my favorite book is Dante’s ,,Divina Comedia’’ and the famous Count Ugolino is mentioned in this book. I visited a lot of historic cities but I admit that Pisa was one of many who impressed me, in a very good way.
2. Did you travel alone or with your family/friends (how many) ?
I traveled, like in all my vacations, with my wife which shares with me the same passion, that of to enjoy a good book. When I go with her in new location I don’t need nothing else because I have her next to me.
3. How much time did you spend finding out information about this location and what resources did you use to do it (online sites/traveling agencies/friends).
Every time after I read a new book and if there is an historic location mentioned in the book, then I search on the internet more imformations about this location with pictures attached of course and I always make a file with every location where I was and where I will like to go. And when all is gathered and when we have time I call to a travel agency and make the reservations we need, including the flight or the bus ticket to the hotel room, so that all to be perfect.
4. Can you tell us the thing you like most in this place?
I think that the thing that I liked most is 14th – century Romanesque Leaning Tower, which is of course the Pisa’s main attraction, it has 294 stairs and it really seemed that it will overturn in any moment. During my stay there the Italians tried to made a fortification project with progress that to stop increasing in inclination and even managed to pull the tower back only a bit(40 centimetres). The Leaning Tower belongs to an ensemble of four impressive buildings all located in El Campo Del Miracoli( the square of the miracles) : the Cathedral Santa Maria Assunta, the campanile(the tower) ,the baptistery and the Camposanto cemetry. All this were so beautiful and really amazed me a lot.
5. What were the bad/ugly sides of your vacation?
I don’t think that there were something bad in our vacation, because e at home we made a itinerary with what to visit every day and we respected it so we were happy that all was at the plan .
6. How was your room (did you had everything you need).
Everything was comfortable, even if we stayed at a cheap hostel, but the accommodation was very good and I must admit that the Italian food is really great and tasty.
7. Did you take a digital camera (what model), a laptop or any other gadgets with you? (name of the gadget).
Even if I am old I know how to handle a digital camera, that’s why I bought some time ago a very good one, and which I always take it with me, a Sony DSC P 7.
8. How were the people there (the reception and people you meet)
Everyone was very nice and friendly. I was for many times in Italy but here I discovered the most warm and friendly people and they really made a very good impression.
9. Did you make any new friends (are you still keeping in touch).
No unfortunately I did not made any new friends because we were to busy to respect our itinerary , but for the next time we will try to be not so focused on the itinerary.
10. How did you spend your time? Did you participate in any recreational activities?
Like I said almost all our time we spend it visiting, just visiting and in the afternoons we stayed very much in the green parks which really gave us relaxation, all was perfect.
11. What places did you visited? (Museums, resorts, sport facilities)
We visited so many places that sincerely I don’t remember all because the names are in Italian, Piazza del Miracoli, with all the 4 buildings, the Churchyard, , the park Giardono Scotto, the Museum San Matteo, Santa Caterina Square an amazing church and I must not forget La Piazza Garibaldi where there is the best ice-cream shop ever- La Bottega del Gelato.
12. What other vacation location would you recommend to the public?
I think that my recommendation to the public is the historic cities all over the world, like Rome, Athena and Egypt, and the public must choose what it is most close to their cultural taste.
